Philanthropy

The International Perfusion Association is pleased to support multiple cardiac surgery scholarships and mission trips around the world. Please take a minute to learn about our philanthropic endeavors below.

Heart To Heart Mission

The “Heart to Heart” philanthropic cardiac surgical mission to Santiago, Dominican Republic was started and organized by Robert D. Pascotto M.D., cardiothoracic surgeon of Fort Myers, Florida. Since September 2002, our teams have orchestrated two to three mission trips annually. Thus far >34 mission trips have been completed in Cabral and HOMS Hospital with a total of >350 patients have been operated on with excellent results with a low operative mortality. Honduras Mission

A global health initiative born in 2019 based in the city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This is a capacity-building program, aimed towards training local healthcare workers to perform life-saving open heart surgery for patients with rheumatic heart disease and collagen disorders. This program represents the only source for adult heart surgery in Honduras; a country with 10 million people. The International Perfusion Association will be partnering with Duke Univeristy in 2024 to bring an additional surgical team to Tegucigalpa. 

Novick Cardiac Alliance

The Novick Cardiac Alliance is committed to bringing sustainable health care solutions to children with cardiac disease in Low and Middle Income countries. Dr. Bill Novick and his team our key partners in performing infant and pediatric cardiac surgery.

Robert D. Pascotto Scholarship

The International Perfusion Association (IPA) has established the Dr. Robert Pascotto Scholarship in his honor. This scholarship, funded annually with $12,000 by the IPA, aims to support students wishing to participate in mission trips. It offers up to $3,000 for mission trip expenses to each recipient, encouraging participation in cardiac surgery missions and fostering a culture of philanthropy in healthcare.
