Ecuador Mission

Volunteer cardiac care. Local partnerships. New beginnings.

Hope and Healing in Ecuador

The International Perfusion Association supports cardiac surgery missions in Ecuador through volunteer teams, local partnerships, donated supplies, and education. Our work connects experienced clinicians with communities where access to advanced cardiac care can be limited.

Care in Cuenca

A mission with Massachusetts General Hospital and local Ecuadorian partners brought 12 volunteer clinicians together to perform six complex cardiac surgeries for patients aged 15–65. The team included cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and nurses. The published mission report described successful outcomes, with all patients returning home to their families.

Local collaboration included Dr. Telmo Delgado and the healthcare team at Hospital Clínica Latino. Medical supply, equipment, and funding donors helped make the mission possible.

Partnerships Across Ecuador

IPA has also described plans for outreach in Loja with a surgical team led by Dr. Lacy Harville at Hospital Clínica San Agustín. Together, these efforts focus on access to surgical care, support for local healthcare teams, essential equipment and supplies, and opportunities for shared learning.

Help Support the Next Mission

Our next mission trip to Cuenca, Ecuador begins October 10, 2026. Donations and volunteer support help turn these partnerships into care for patients and their families.
