Success Story Patient 1

By coincidence, this 25 yr/o female happened to enter the emergency room at the start of our mission. An alert physician heard a murmur and obtained an ECHO of her heart. This demonstrated a very large mass literally hanging off of the tricuspid valve. Further history revealed that she had a C-section 3 months previously and required blood transfusions. This eventually resulted in the infected mass on her valve. An emergency heart operation resulted in the successful removal of this mass. The local Edwards Life sciences representative obtained funds for her 6 week post operative course of expensive antibiotics. Today she is caring for her 4-month-old baby and both mother and baby are doing fine. If we were not there at the time of the mission, there is no question that this mass would have broken off and caused sudden death.
