The International Perfusion Association (IPA) is planning two mission trips for next year. The first trip is planned sometime in March in Santiago, DR (dates TBD) and will be led by Dr. Lacy Harville from OU Health. This will be the first return trip to the Santiago, DR since the COVID-19 travel restrictions. Dr. Harville and his team have participated on multiple prior missions and will be operating at HOMS Hospital in a partnership with the HOMS Foundation. The IPA has performed surgery on well over 500 patients here since the inception of the “Heart to Heart” mission in 2003.
Our next trip in 2024 is planned for the 2nd week of June in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This mission trip will be led by Dr. David D’Allesandro from Massachusetts General Hospital. This trip is the result of a new partnership between the IPA and Duke University Hospital. It will encompass two full weeks of surgical cases and complete cardiac teams from both Duke University and Mass General on both adult and pediatric patients.
The Internal Perfusion Association (IPA) is a 501C3 non-profit committed to advancing education and global cardiac surgery missions. Our objective is to maximize our philanthropic impact by hosting cardiac surgery missions, aiding others involved in mission work and supporting local education.
To support our mission work, we accept both financial contributions and donations of cardiac surgery equipment and supplies. Please take comfort in knowing that 100% of all donated funds go directly to patient care. Every member of our team(s) is an unpaid volunteer. Your donation, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of the patients we serve. Donations can be made fully online, and you will instantly receive the information you need for your tax deduction. As we approach the end of the 2023 tax year, please consider supporting our mission work.
Please note: This post will be updated as our immediate needs and the details of our trips are finalized. Also, please be aware that our website, while active, is still under construction. We hope to have it fully completed in January of next year.
