We are thrilled to share the inspiring success of our recent cardiac surgery mission trip to Cuenca, Ecuador, a powerful collaboration between our Ecuador Mission team and the world-renowned Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School). This mission stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when compassion, expertise, and dedication converge with a common purpose.
This mission, led by esteemed cardiac surgeons Dr. Davis D’Alesandro, Dr. Eriberto Michael, and local partner Dr. Telmo Delgado, was supported by a world-class team of anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and nurses. Together, this dedicated group of 12 volunteer clinicians generously donated their time, expertise, and compassion to provide life-saving cardiac care to patients who would otherwise have limited access to such treatment. Over the course of the mission, they successfully performed six complex surgeries on individuals ranging in age from 15 to 65 years old.
We are proud to report that all surgeries were successful, the outcomes have been exceptional, and all patients are home with their families. These stories of healing are a testament to the deep impact of compassionate, expert care—and to the profound difference we can make when we unite around a shared goal.

This mission was not achieved in isolation. It was made possible by the unwavering support and collaboration of our local and international partners. We are deeply grateful to the incredible healthcare professionals at Hospital Clínica Latino, whose commitment to excellence and partnership made every aspect of the mission run smoothly. From physicians and nurses to hospital administrators, security teams, and support staff—every individual played a vital role in ensuring high-quality care for both adult and pediatric patients.
