A global health initiative born in 2019 based in the city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This is a capacity-building program, aimed towards training local healthcare workers to perform life-saving open heart surgery for patients with rheumatic heart disease and collagen disorders. This program represents the only source for adult heart surgery in Honduras; a country with 10 million people. The International Perfusion Association will be partnering with Duke in 2024 to bring an additional surgical team to Tegucigalpa.
