Effect of Ultrafiltration on Whole Blood Coagulation Profile during Cardiopulmonary Bypass in Cardiac Surgery: A Retrospective Analysis

Ultrafiltration (UF) during cardiopulmonary bypass for cardiac surgery was found to enhance coagulation profiles by increasing clot firmness, as evidenced by significant rises in maximum clot firmness (MCF) in a retrospective study of 75 patients. The effectiveness of UF in improving clot firmness was particularly notable in patients with reduced pre-UF MCF, indicating a potential targeted benefit of UF in managing coagulation during cardiac procedures.
