Areas of Cardiopulmonary Bypass Practice and Artificial Intellienge
Our ability to increase knowledge, calculate risk, and detect perioperative events associated with surgery and CPB is improving through our interaction with data and artificial intelligence (AI). The application of predictive AI models offers the potential for individual outcome prediction following CPB which could lead to the ‘personalization’ of CPB conduct. AI also provides the potential for early detection/prediction of emerging biochemical abnormalities and decision support for CPB management. Join Richard Newland, a Senior Perfusionist in the Department of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, to identify areas of CPB practice in which AI could be applied.
